Joho vacated his house on Thursday, January 12 after flushing out the security detail that had been assigned to him.
The gates to his residence were all locked and one of the guards told reporters that Joho had said he did not need their services.

Richard Chacha, the director of communications for Joho said that the guards were sent to the wrong house since the governor had already moved.

Joho got his detail withdrawn on what was termed as a re-organisation of security in the area.
Government officials however blamed the withdrawal of the security detail on a tiff that the governor had with Uhuru Kenyatta.

Joho had told off Uhuru for purporting to launch a project in Mombasa that he had neither started nor funded.

Update: SAUTI.co.ke has learnt that Governor Hassan Joho has been arrested and detained at the Urban police station.

No charges have been preferred against him.

We shall keep you updated with fresh updates as soon as we get them.
