Nairobi, February 13, The war against narcotics in coastal region gained momentum on Monday, February 13, 2017. Coast Region Coordinator Nelson Marwa and senior anti-narcotics officers led a successful operation in Bamburi, Mombasa.

During the crackdown, 5 suspects believed to be involved in drug trafficking were arrested. Besides, over Ksh 18 million cash stashed in two suitcases and 15 kilograms of heroine were recovered.
This seizure comes a few days after the deportation of the Akasha brothers to the United States. The Akasha brothers have been said to control a global cartel trafficking drugs and ivory.
Among other things recovered during the raid were posh vehicles belonging to the suspects. This latest operation is seen as a major breakthrough in the narcotics war.
