Seems like forces in the Kenya Kwanza administration are speeding up the ouster of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Senator Danson Mungatana of Tana River County has submitted a formal notice of motion to the Senate of Kenya seeking to censure Gachagua for his conduct while in office.
The motion questions the Deputy President’s public utterances and actions since assuming office.
The Deputy President is accused of making divisive public statements, offering biased employment opportunities, and inciting certain communities to disobey lawful directives issued by local governments.
Senator Mungatana stated in the motion that these actions violate the principles of national unity and go against Article 10(2) of the Constitution, which emphasizes values such as inclusivity, equality, and social justice. The senator’s motion formally calls on the Senate to express its displeasure with the Deputy President’s conduct and to censure him for failing to uphold the dignity of the office.
