Controversy surrounds the appointment of former journalist Jacque Maribe as Head of Communication in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management after the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Kenya clarified that she is not a government employee.
The PSC issued a press release on Wednesday to address social media posts claiming Maribe’s appointment.
Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management CS Moses Kuria had last week appointed Maribe to the position and she had already started her role when she attended her first assignment during the launch of a nationwide E-filing data tracking dashboard and cause list portal at the Supreme Court of Kenya.
According to PSC Chairperson Amb. Anthony Muchiri, no such appointment has been made, and the Ministry hasn’t submitted a request for the position.
“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive
recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” he said.
Maribe received a string of congratulation messages after her appointment.
