Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko caused a stir on social media over the weekend as he made a grand entrance at a private function in Kitui County, donning a pair of luxurious Amiri sneakers.
The flamboyant politician, known for his affinity for high-end fashion, sported the sleek red and white Amiri low-top sneakers valued at $805 (approximately Ksh. 130,000) during the Installation ceremony of Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli as National Patron of Akamba Anzauni Clan, where he served as the Chief Guest.
Sonko’s sartorial display didn’t stop there; he complemented the pricey footwear with a matching Amiri t-shirt, ripped denim jeans, and a coordinating denim half-coat. Adding to his signature style, Sonko accessorized with an Amiri beanie, extravagant gold jewelry, and gold-rimmed sunglasses.
The event, attended by renowned Benga singer Ken wa Maria and Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza, drew a significant crowd, including prominent figures from Ukambani and beyond.
Dr. Kyalo Muli’s appointment as the National Patron of Akamba Anzauni Clan marks a pivotal moment for the community, with the role carrying substantive responsibilities. As a respected alumnus of Kenyatta University and a prominent business figure in Dubai, Dr. Muli is tasked with promoting clan growth, engaging with governmental bodies, and fostering unity among clans.
Sonko’s presence at the event underscores his enduring influence within the Kamba community, as he continues to participate in significant gatherings and lend support to various initiatives.
The Installation ceremony, presided over by the Anzauni Clan Council of Elders and National Delegates, highlights the community’s commitment to leadership and unity, with Dr. Kyalo Muli poised to lead the clan into a new era of growth and development.
