Police are searching for the identity and driver of a white canter truck involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life content creator Brian Chira early on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred around 3:10 am along Ndenderu-Ruaka road, near the Gachagirage area.
The victim, was later identified as Brian Chira, was reportedly intoxicated and attempting to cross the road when he was struck by the vehicle.
According to Zeleck Momanyi Alfonso, who was with Chira at the time, the two men had left Ciero Resort together on a motorbike after Chira was asked to leave due to his disorderly behavior.
“Brian requested a lift home, and we left the resort,” Alfonso said. “He became disoriented and wanted us to take the wrong way down the service lane. He then got off the motorbike and ran towards the main road.”
Alfonso stated he followed Chira on foot due to his intoxication, but tragically, Chira was struck by the white canter before Alfonso could reach him. The driver of the truck did not stop after the collision.
Responding officers from the Karuri Traffic Base secured the scene and transported Chira’s body to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police have launched an investigation to locate the vehicle and apprehend the driver.
The case is coded P.U.I., indicating possible intoxication as a contributing factor.
