Leader of the ODM Party and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, Raila Odinga, has responded to President William Ruto’s recent announcement regarding the reconstitution of the cabinet.
The president’s new cabinet includes four members from ODM, a move that has prompted clarification from Odinga’s camp.
In his press release, Raila Odinga emphasized that neither the ODM nor Azimio has entered into any coalition agreement with President Ruto’s UDA party.
“We had anticipated the crafting of clear terms of engagement based on issues we raised in our various communiques,” Raila stated.
Despite the absence of a formal coalition, Raila extended best wishes to the newly appointed cabinet members, expressing hope that they would contribute positively to national development.
In defending criticisms fron his supporters, Raila’s statement also reiterated his party’s commitment to advocating for national engagement under specific conditions. These conditions, previously outlined, include; Compensation to the families of victims of extra-judicial executions and individuals injured by the state since last year, The release of all persons in custody and the termination of all cases related to protests since last year and prosecution of policemen involved in shooting to kill or maim protestors.
ODM remains unwavering in its commitment to its foundational principles of democracy, good governance, and social justice. “These principles shall at all times guide our actions and decisions as we strive for the betterment of our nation,” Odinga affirmed.
Raila also called upon all stakeholders to remain committed to the ideals of unity and progress for the prosperity of all Kenyans.
