A Safarilink plane heading to Diani this morning was forced to abandon its flight after a collision with another aircraft.
The plane experienced a loud bang shortly after takeoff, forcing the crew to return to Nairobi for inspection.
Safarilink flight number 053, carrying 39 passengers and 5 crew members, took off at approximately 9:45 AM local time.
The pilot reported hearing a loud bang soon after departure and made the decision to turn back to Nairobi-Wilson Airport out of an abundance of caution.
The aircraft landed safely at the airport.
According to a statement released by Safarilink Aviation, “There were no casualties reported.” The statement further confirmed that relevant authorities have been notified and are working with the airline to investigate the cause of the loud bang.
Safarilink advised they would provide further updates once more information becomes available.
